Surviving 24 Hours on ONLY Gas Station Food—Epic Food Challenge!
Can you live on gas station food for a whole day? I tried it, and it was a wild ride. I ate everything from mystery meat pizza to glowing donuts. It was a test of my stomach and my sanity.
The Rules of the Game
Here are the rules I set for myself:
I could only eat food bought at a gas station.
This included everything: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.
I had to try the weirdest and most iconic gas station foods.
Breakfast of Champions?
My day started at 7:00 AM at a 7-Eleven. I went for the classic gas station breakfast.
Breakfast taquito
Microwaved sausage biscuit
Coffee
The taquito was crunchy but mushy. It was spicy and sweet at the same time. The sausage biscuit was salty and greasy, but not bad. The coffee was hot and strong, just what I needed.
Next up were the donuts. I grabbed a glazed, a chocolate, and a mystery donut. The glazed donut was okay. The chocolate one was a bit stale. The mystery donut tasted like regret and fake blueberries. I washed it all down with orange juice. I felt a sugar rush and a sense of doom.
Mid-Morning Snacks
I stopped at a Shell station for a mid-morning snack. The snack aisle was full of odd treats. I picked a few things:
Beef jerky
String cheese
Flaming Hot Cheetos
The jerky was tough. The cheese was rubbery but good. The Cheetos set my mouth on fire. I drank a blue raspberry Slurpee to cool down.
Lunch at Love's
For lunch, I went to a Love's travel stop. These places are huge. They have everything. I got a slice of pepperoni pizza, a cheeseburger, and a chili cheese dog.
The pizza was chewy. The cheese tasted like plastic. The pepperoni was good. The burger was a mystery. The chili cheese dog was a mess. I washed it all down with soda and sour gummy worms. My stomach started to hurt.
Afternoon Pick-Me-Up
I stopped at a Wawa, a popular gas station on the East Coast. Wawa is known for its hot food. I ordered:
Buffalo chicken hoagie
Mac and cheese
Soft pretzel
The hoagie was great, spicy and cheesy. The mac and cheese was creamy. The pretzel was soft. For a moment, I forgot I was eating gas station food.
Then it was time for road trip snacks. I grabbed:
Pork rinds
King-size Snickers
Mountain Dew
The pork rinds were crunchy and weird. The Snickers was sweet. The Mountain Dew gave me energy.
Dinner at Pilot Flying J
For dinner, I went to a Pilot Flying J. This place is known for its hot foods. I went big and got:
Two slices of meat lovers pizza
Fried chicken sandwich
Tornado roller
The pizza was greasy. The chicken sandwich was spicy. The tornado roller was a fried mystery filled with cheese and jalapenos. My taste buds were confused, and my body was scared.
For dessert, I had:
Hostess apple pie
Mini powdered donuts
Chocolate milk
The apple pie seemed to last forever. The donuts made a mess. The chocolate milk was cold and good.
Late-Night Snack
I got hungry late at night. I ended up at a Circle K. The only thing open was the hot dog roller. So, I got a hot dog with everything on it, Funyuns, and a Red Bull. It was 1:00 AM. My stomach was not happy.
What I Learned
I lived on gas station food for 24 hours. My body is now mostly preservatives. My blood is Mountain Dew. But I learned a few things:
Gas station food can be surprisingly good.
Gas stations have all kinds of crazy snacks.
Eating roller dogs and Slurpees will test your limits.
Would I do it again? Maybe.
